The Afternoon Sun Beams...

The deer scattered after the busses pulled in, letting the three burst out the door to run towards the community center. Tucked in the tranquil Appalachian Mountains, the Timberville Community Center stood like a behemoth. Filled with the local schools, courts, churches, labs, and governmental offices, the building housed everything in a place of sharing and collaboration. The towering brick walls were covered in Virginia Creeper vines that climb every surface except for the solar panels and the massive windows. Many rural communities, like the urban areas, have become solar punk paradises as nationwide open source has fostered community development. At the bottom were the schools, but from the offices at the top, people could see the sprawling farms, the wind turbines, and the trams and busses sweeping through the dense mountain forests to secluded homes. In the middle of the forest, it was here where the internet was distributed and at its strongest, encouraging residents of the town to gather and work with computers together. As the three rushed inside the building, they made their way to the center gardens filled with massive oak trees. There, they found their place among the students bundled up in the cold comparing their programs.
